Quilt

For my quilt project, I had to group and align 5 different objects that I created in Adobe Illustrator. For my first shape, I used the ellipse tool and the scale and rotate tool to scale the ellipses down to be smaller while also rotating and copying the ellipses to repeat the shape. I used the fill and outline tool to fill the ellipses in with a pinkish color while having a dark border outline. In the second shape, I also used the rotate tool to rotate and create copies of a triangle I made with the polygon tool. In the third image of the circle, I used the ellipse tool to create circles and the knife tool to split the circles in half and filled different parts in with two different colors. I also filled the background of the circle in with a polka dotted texture. For the last two images, I used the polygon tool and the line tool to create octagonal and triangular shapes. For the colors on all the images, I chose a pastel like palette to create an even tone throughout the image while also creating contrast with putting light on dark colors and dark on light colors.
Cartoon Characters
For the six characters I had to create for my cartoon character project, I decided to create cartoon superheroes. I got this idea from looking at inspiration online from searching up cartoon characters made in illustrator. To make the characters, I used a variety of tools such as the shape tool, knife tool, pen tool, and reflect tool. Some shapes I made were ellipses, rectangles, rounded rectangles, stars, and lines. I also created shapes with the pen tool. From those shapes, I used the direct selection tool to drag anchor points to make my own custom shapes. I designed each superhero with their own unique clothing, accessories, and colors to match them.
T-Shirt Designs
In this t-shirt project, I had to design three t-shirts that complimented each other. For all three of them, I used my cartoon characters I had created from a past project. With the characters, I designed the shirt on Photoshop then I placed them on a template of a colored t-shirt in illustrator on different art boards. I used the text tool along with the layer styles to create text effects. I used the fill tool to fill a circle for "The Flash" t-shirt and duplicated the circle to create a shadow like effect. I also put a colored shadow effect on the text on the different shirts. I created a lightening shape for "The Flash" t-shirt, circles with white outlines for the "Captain America" t-shirt, and a brush effect background on the "Superman" t-shirt. Some tools I used throughout this project would be the text tool, brush tool, transform tool, and shape tool. I also tried to stick with a certain color scheme for each shirt. For example, I used red, white and blue for the "Captain America" t-shirt.
Geometric Flower
By using a tutorial online, I learned how to create a geometric flower effect logo in Adobe Illustrator. I first used the ellipse tool to create an ellipse. With the rotate tool, I rotated the first ellipse I drew and duplicated it several times. I then used the pathfinder tool to divide the parts of the ellipses and deleted some of the small pieces of the shape. When I was done with the final shape outline, I selected parts of the object with the direct selection tool then filled in the parts with several different color gradients.
Food Truck

For this project, I worked with a partner to create a food truck. This is our business food truck van, Little Eataly. We work in a business area during the hours of 12pm-3pm and serve hungry business people. Our truck sells a variety of pasta (Fetuccine Alfredo & Parmesan Chicken), Italian desserts (Gelato & Canoli), and Italian Drinks (San Pellegrino & Italian Soda). The characters we used were the cartoon characters drawn by my partner and food characters that I drew for the truck such as the pasta, ice cream, and soda. My partner and I both worked together to create the food truck by inputting both of our ideas. We both used Illustrator tools to create the truck such as the shape tool, scale tool, text tool, line tool, rotate tool, pen tool etc. Some principles of design we used was line, shape, color, pattern, texture, variety, and balance. We used lines going through the middle of the truck to add movement. We used a variety of shapes such as triangles, circles, and rectangles in our food characters and throughout the whole truck. Patterns and textures are shown through the character’s outfit and the window background behind one of the characters. There is also a good balance within the food truck with the distribution of characters and text. The colors that we added were used in order to add an Italian effect to the food truck as a whole. The red is used to encourage appetite, green is used to promote the money that will be collected at the end of the day, and black and white are used to add contrast. The pattern and colors help with adding a repetition effect. A flare was also added to the window to make it seem like the sun is shining onto the van.
Logo Design
One assignment in class was to design my own customized logo in Illustrator with the tools in the program that I've learned so far. By using the ellipse tool, brush tool, and text tool, I designed a logo that showcases the initial of my first name. I created a leaf type effect by using the shape tool, rotate tool, and lowering the opacity. I lined it up with the left half of the circle and left the other side for a paint splatter brush effect and my text. I added a border around my final logo with the leafs sticking out to add dimension. The colors I chose were red, white and blue because they all contrast and emphasize each other well.
